We travel by overnight train and stay at the beautiful Victoria Sapa Resort. You will mingle with the tribal folks, that include H'mong and Red Dzao. Later trek through terraced rice fields to observe their way of life. Then proceed with visits to the usual places in Vietnam.

Day 1           Hanoi                  
Arrival in Hanoi. Meeting assistance and transfer.

Visit the Museum of Ethnology
north vietnam tourMUSEUM OF ETHNOLOGY: This museum brings to life the astonishing ethnic diversity in Vietnam, with art and artifacts from the 54 different ethnic groups that inhabit the country. Inside the museum are detailed descriptions of minority groups, with examples of their traditional clothing and way of life. Outside are faithful reconstructions of traditional longhouses, cemeteries and other distinctive ethnic buildings.

Excursion to visit local handicraft villages
north vietnam tourVisit different villages surrounding Hanoi that specialize in certain handicrafts. Visits include BAT TRANG, which produces traditional ceramics; DONG HO, a center for traditional painting; and DONG CAO, which manufactures Rhamnoneuron paper.


Visit Van Phuc silk weaving village
VAN PHUC VILLAGE: a silk village producing silk cloth on looms for tailor-made clothes. Many of the fine silk items in Hanoi Pho Hang Gai are originated here.

Day 3           Trekking excursion to Ban Gioc waterfall (Breakfast)
north vietnam tourThis trekking adventure begins at the mountain town of Cao Bang, located in Northeastern Vietnam near the Chinese border and surrounded by beautiful countryside. In the morning, take a scenic in insightful day trip to Ban Gioc waterfall, 53 meters high and has an impressive span of 300 meters. Along the way, you will see Tay, Hmong and Dzao ethnic minority groups. In the afternoon heading back to Cao Bang, stop to explore the expensive 2,144 meter Nhuom Ngao Cavern to discover its brilliant stalactites. Return to Cao Bang.

Day 4          Excursion to Pac Bo (Breakfast)
Journey in Cao Bang Province, to very close to the Chinese border.

PAC BO: cave where Ho Chi Minh lived for four years writing poetry while waiting for WWII to end. The cave and the surrounding area is sacred ground for Vietnamese revolutionaries. Ho Chi Minh named the stream in front of his cave Lenin Creek and a nearby mountain, Karl Marx Peak.

Day 5          Ba Be National Park (Breakfast)
Travel by vehicle from Cao Bang to Ba Be National Park

Trekking excursion around Ba Be National Park with a boat trip
north vietnam tourExplore the dramatic BA BE NATIONAL PARK, 8th National Park of Vietnam. Starting driving from Ba Be guest house to Ruoc Lom pier (6km), boat trip along Nang River to Dau Dang Waterfalls with stop at Puong cave, continue boat trip to Ba Be lake, Ao Tien to Bo Lu village (inhabited of Tay ethnic). Transfer by boat from Bo Lu village pier to Ba Be National Park pier. Continue by vehicle to Ba Be Guesthouse.

Day 6          Trekking from Ba Be National Park to Pac Ngoi village (Breakfast)
north vietnam tourTransfer by boat from BA BE NATIONAL PARK pier to COC TOC village where you start walking to TA HAN village of Hmong people. Continue walking through the national park and along the ecological trail to PHIENG CA (NAM CUONG village of Red Dzao people. Stop enroute or at PHIENG CA village for lunch. Afterward, continue walking from NAM CUONG to BO LU village and PAC NGOI village. The trekking takes approximately 6 hours and 1 hour for lunch.

Travel by vehicle from Ba Be National Park to Hanoi.

Visit the Old Quarter
OLD QUARTER: they have well over a thousand years of history and remain one of Vietnam's most lively and unusual places, where one can buy anything from a gravestone to silk pajamas. Exploring by walk to the maze of back streets which is fascinating and there are endless things to buy wool clothes, cosmetics, gold and silver jewellery, silk clothes and herbal medicines.

Transfer to/from train station - By train from Hanoi to Lao Cai.

Day 8           Transfer to Sa Pa (Breakfast)

Excursion to Cat Cat, Y Linh Ho, Lao Chai and Tavan with trek
north vietnam tourExplore the dramatic mountain countryside around Sa Pa, visiting some of the local villages that nestle in the valleys and hillsides around Sa Pa. This area is inhabited mainly by the Black Hmong and Red Dzao peoples, as well as the Tay, and they continue their traditional way of life. The trek covers moderately hilly terrain, past terraced rice fields, mountain streams and bamboo stands.

Day 9           Sa Pa - Lai Chau (Breakfast)
Travel by vehicle from Sa Pa to Lai Chau

Trekking excursion around Lai Chau
north vietnam tourExplore the dramatic mountain countryside around Lai Chau, trekking through hills of tea plants. Take a visit to some of the minority villages that nestle in the hillsides around Lai Chau. The trekking distance is approximately 18 km.

Day 11          Hanoi to Halong Bay (Breakfast)
Arrival in Hanoi. Breakfast at a hotel in Hanoi.
Travel by vehicle from Hanoi to Halong Bay.

Excursion by boat through Halong Bay including lunch (4 hours, private)

north vietnam tourCruise on a traditional wooden boat among the emerald waters and craggy limestone cliffs of Halong Bay, stopping to explore one of the many caves in this area. Sail past picturesque islands, floating villages, fishermen casting their nets and pearl fisheries and observe the rhythms of daily life on the bay. Return to Halong pier.

Travel by vehicle from Halong to Hanoi.
